Finding Your Value and Worth In this Industry

Feeling like being on top of the world, felt great.I was finally finding my niche into something else I love to do other than my day to day job. Getting the nickname of Queen Green was always embarrassing to me because of my fear of the spotlight but at the same time, it sounded like a nice ring to it. Being connected to so many communities felt like I had a whole new family until the closing of Mixer Streaming Platform was announced. I was able to express the shock of it all and be honest like so many of us have. The problem with that, I gave myself a deadline on when I should "Boss up" again, when to no longer feel this unwanted pain of losing pretty much what gave me the title in the first place. So, without thinking, I made sure that the communities I was a part of were good with the transitions. I chose to go harder than ever before as a Community Manager/ Moderator where It hid the pain I was still feeling. "Queen Green" was certainly not okay.

Titles are weird though, it pretty much gives us some type of feeling of belonging when we feel alone. Whether it's a title of Content Creator, Streamer, Supporter, Moderator, Community Manager, etc., those titles makes us feel like we are worth something when in our own lives we feel like straight trash.

One of the revelations I realized while reflecting on my recent outburst behind the scenes and uncontrollable emotions I had put my worth and value in this industry and into other communities which left unintentional disappointments. I started to compare myself to some friends and moderator colleagues to the point it overtook my joy and passion of what I enjoyed doing.

As I continue this journey of getting back my confidence and finding my worth here's a few reminders and tools that isn't perfect but, has helped my fears and anxieties become more manageable.

  1. Start off the day with positive affirmations, even if you don't feel like it, I'm a huge believer in speaking life. Search for some that relates to you also. (Google is your friend)

Affirmations:

I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilize today.

• I acknowledge my own self-worth; my confidence is soaring.

• My name is (insert your name) I cannot be (people/person you compare yourself to) because I am on my own journey like they are on theirs.

2. Get off the mindset of people pleasing.

Let's face it, not everybody is going to like your type of flavor and you have to be okay with it. We were made different for a reason, we aren't supposed to be the same, or view the same things, we have free will to choose what we like and don't like, and if someone doesn't like your style, I repeat, it's okay. Even if you don't see them, people do like your style.

3. Put your value in you first before someone else calls it out.

There's a few memes/quotes going around that basically mentions how other people see your potential before you do. Why do you think manipulation, mental abuse happen.

If you know your worth already, no one can skew the mindset that you are not good enough.
